Electronic Immunisation Registers: Challenges and Strategies toImplementation – A Cross-Regional Learning Resource from Linked StudyTour and Webinar

May 21, 2025

In October 2023, the IDIE team together with the Linked Immunisation Action Network hosted country teams from Bhutan, Laos, Indonesia, and Vietnam for a study tour of the Australian Electronic Immunisation Registry (EIR). The study tour was undertaken to investigate the development, structure, functionality, and key characteristics of the Australian Immunisation Register (AIR). The tour provided valuable insights into how Australia established and expanded the AIR over time, revealing effective strategies and important lessons learned.

Following the study tour, Linked hosted a webinar focused on the challenges and obstacles in implementing and expanding EIRs. Study tour participants joined representatives from Guyana, Honduras, and Nicaragua to share insights from their visit to Australia and engage in cross-regional knowledge exchange.
